concern for gender-based violence in Greece and worldwide.<\/p><p><strong>Global Femicide Data \u2013 UN Statistics (2021)<\/strong><\/p><ul><li>In 2021, approximately <strong>45,000 women and girls were murdered by a family member<\/strong>.<\/li><li>These deaths accounted for <strong>56%<\/strong> of all 81,100 women killed globally that year.<\/li><li><strong>Asia and Africa<\/strong> recorded the highest rates of <strong>domestic and intimate partner violence<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Experts warn that many cases go unreported or unclassified, leading to a <strong>significant underestimation<\/strong> of the problem \u2014 a phenomenon known as the \u201c<strong>dark figure of crime<\/strong>.\u201d<\/li><\/ul><p><strong>\ud83d\udcc8<\/strong><strong> Femicide &amp; Domestic Violence in Europe &amp; Greece<\/strong><\/p><ul><li>During the COVID-19 pandemic, <strong>femicide rates surged<\/strong> in North America, Western, and Southern Europe.<\/li><li>In Greece alone, <strong>28 police reports for domestic violence are filed every single day<\/strong>, illustrating the pressing nature of the issue.<\/li><\/ul><p><strong>\u2696\ufe0f A Legal Perspective on Gender-Based Violence<\/strong><\/p><p>Stavroula\u2013Antigoni Prili, drawing from her extensive criminal law experience, discussed:<\/p><ul><li>The <strong>systemic gaps<\/strong> in legal protection for survivors.<\/li><li>The <strong>legal definitions and prosecution challenges<\/strong> surrounding rape and domestic abuse.<\/li><li>The <strong>lack of legal recognition<\/strong> of femicide as
